Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-05-19
This Privacy Policy explains what data Channeltics collects when you use the site at channeltics.com (the "Service"), how we use it, who we share it with, and the controls you have over it. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who we are
The Service is operated by Channeltics. References to "we", "us" or "our" mean Channeltics. The domain channeltics.com is registered through Dynadot and the site is hosted on Netlify.
2. What we collect
You provide
- YouTube channel URLs, handles, or IDs you submit to the calculator.
- Your name, email address and message when you use the contact form.
Collected automatically
- Usage data (pages visited, referrer, session duration, approximate location).
- Device data (browser, operating system, screen size, language, IP address).
- Cookies and similar identifiers (see section 6).
3. How we use your data
- Run the calculator and return sponsorship estimates for the channels you query.
- Reply to messages submitted through the contact form.
- Measure aggregate site usage to improve content and performance.
- Detect and prevent abuse, including rate-limit enforcement on our API.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
4. YouTube Data API
Channeltics uses the YouTube Data API v3 to fetch public channel data (channel metadata, subscriber count, view counts, recent video statistics). We only query data that is publicly visible on YouTube. Our use of the API is subject to the YouTube API Services Terms and the Google Privacy Policy. You may revoke Channeltics' access to your Google data at any time via Google Security Settings.
5. Third-party services
We do not sell your data. We rely on the following service providers:
- Netlify — application hosting and edge delivery. May process IP addresses and request metadata as part of normal hosting and security.
- Dynadot — domain name registrar. No personal data of site visitors is shared with Dynadot.
- Supabase — caches public YouTube channel data we have fetched, to reduce API load. Stores no personal data about you as a visitor.
- Google Analytics 4 — measures aggregate site usage. See section 6.
- YouTube Data API (Google) — source of the public channel data shown to you.
- Google Sheets — stores the details you submit through the contact form.
We may also share data when required by law, in response to a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, safety or property of Channeltics or third parties.
6. Cookies and analytics
Channeltics uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the Service is used. GA4 sets cookies (typically _ga and _ga_*) to assign a pseudonymous identifier to your browser and measure visits. IP addresses are processed by Google's infrastructure to derive approximate location, but Channeltics does not receive your full IP address.
You can find more information in our Cookie Policy. You can disable analytics by blocking cookies in your browser, by using a browser-level Do-Not-Track or Global Privacy Control signal, or by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.
7. Security
All traffic is served over HTTPS with HSTS enforced. Access to operational data is restricted to people who need it. We rate-limit our public API and run abuse-prevention checks. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the data involved.
8. Data retention
- Cached YouTube channel data: refreshed on a tiered schedule (24 hours to 7 days) depending on channel size. Deleted automatically once a query is no longer recent.
- Contact form messages: kept only as long as needed to handle your request, then deleted.
- Analytics data: retained according to GA4 default settings (up to 14 months).
- Server logs containing IP addresses: retained for a short window for security and abuse review.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live (in particular under the EU GDPR, the UK GDPR or other applicable laws), you may have rights to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request erasure ("right to be forgotten") where applicable.
- Object to or restrict processing.
- Receive your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To exercise these rights, use the contact page.
10. International transfers
Our service providers (notably Google, Netlify, Supabase) may process data outside of your country of residence, including in jurisdictions whose data protection laws may differ from yours. Where required, these providers operate under appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
11. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
13. Contact
For privacy questions or to exercise any of the rights above, contact us at contact@channeltics.com or via the contact page.
